The City Of Refuge 

    "Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the slayer (murderer) may flee thither which killeth any person at unawares. And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger, that the man slayer dies not..." (Numb.35:11, 12). Here is an instruction is given by God unto Moses by which a murderer or a killer might be saved from being put to death through retaliation at the hands of an angry mob (avengers). This divine instruction given to Moses portrays the matchless consideration and love the Almighty God has for a hopeless sinner who, by His righteous judgment, is not supposed to live. By God's righteous judgment, "The souls that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father..." (Ezek.18:20).

     Dear reader, do you realize that every sin committed is like attempting your own life or somebody else's life? Through boy/girlfriend relationship or matrimonial unfaithfulness, have you not shed innocent blood of a precious life before; which may be through abortion? By the use of your biro or pen, have you not crucified a helpless junior worker or a colleague on the cross of your office table before? If you go down memory lane and you carefully Examine yourself... (2Corinth.13:51), you may find yourself wanting in one or more of these. It then means you are equally entitled to the wrath and awful judgment of God. However, there is a City of Refuge He has established for you and for me so as to be rescued or saved. It is now your sole responsibility to earnestly search for the City, locate the City and then run into it without further delay. Our City of Refuge today is CHRIST JESUS.

    God loves sinners no matter the depth of their sins and iniquities. All He hates is your sins. He is a God of deep consideration and understanding. Having known that all the abominations that are found associated with your life such as masturbation, filthiness, fornication, adultery, robbery, stealing, murder, pride, worldliness, and so on are the handiworks of the Devil. He declares His love saying "Have I any pleasure at all that: the wicked should die? Saith the Lord God: and not that he should return form his (sinful) ways and live?" (Ezek.18:23). By the love God has for you and for the whole world, "...He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John3:16) and "If the son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed" (John 8:36).

   Jesus indeed is the City of Refuge and today He calleth thee saying "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest" (Mathew11:28). The harlot caught in her shameless deed in John 8:3-5 responded to this call and was saved from the deadly stones of the religious hypocrites of her days by the embracing arms of compassion of Jesus Christ. "...and Jesus said unto her, neither do I condemn thee: go and sin no more" (John 8:11). Zacchaeus the Chief publican and an extortioner, quickly and positively responded to this same call and was accommodated into the City of Refuge "And Jesus said unto him, this day is salvation Come to this house..."  (Luke 19:9). Today, He is inviting you too. No matter the magnitude of your offenses, there is a place of safety for you in the City of Refuge "For the son of man is come to seek and to safe that which was lost" (Luke19:10).

    Whosoever refuses to make use of this great opportunity of the City of Refuge established by God of compassion, will eventually have himself or herself to blame for "...the murderer (sinner) shall surely be put to death. The avenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meet him, he shall slay him" (Number 35:18b,19). 

   The precious opportunity of enjoying heavenly bliss with God and His angels has been deprived of Satan and his fallen angels, and the opportunity was placed in the hands of man; whosoever is ready. For this reason, he (Satan) becomes our adversary (avenger) as the Bible declares saying "...your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1Peter 5:8). The frustration and the painfulness of having lost everything called eternal bliss and glory (Rev.12:7-9) make him (Satan) to be mad at you, and to be desperately after you have known that you are a potential candidate for heaven who will eventually enjoy all himself has lost (John 10:10). 

     Dear reader, today, the door of the City is wide open. Make haste to come in for today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be too late. All you need to do is to confess all your sins for "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1John1:9). Secondly, accept the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Now pick up your Bible and join a Bible-believing church where the totality of the word of God is being preached without compromise or deception, and where your attention will always be focused on heaven and the second coming of the Lord. As you do this, the Lord Himself will uphold you in Jesus' name. (Amen).

Prayer of Salvation

If you want to give your heart to the LORD JESUS CHRIST, please pray this with me.

LORD JESUS, I believe you love me so much and that is the reason you went through pain, rejection, distress, and terrible suffering in the hands of the Roman soldiers.

The Bible says in Romans 10:9, 10 ESV

"9… if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

I believe with my heart the LORD JESUS as God’s only begotten Son and confess with my mouth that God has raised Him from the dead. Thank You LORD JESUS because I am saved according to the scriptures. And I receive the power of the Holy Ghost to live for Christ for the rest of my life, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
